Richmond KT2 - Concept Design Brief
The brief was to transform an underused rear garden in Richmond into a contemporary, stylish and highly functional outdoor space, thoughtfully designed to suit the needs of a young family.
The design focused on creating distinct areas for dining, entertaining, relaxing and family use, while maintaining a strong visual connection between house and garden. Clean architectural lines, natural materials and layered planting were introduced to create a refined contemporary aesthetic without making the garden feel overly formal.
A generous dining terrace provides space for outdoor entertaining, while raised planting beds and integrated lighting add depth, structure and atmosphere. A central lawn provides a flexible area for family use, framed by lush planting and a dedicated garden room at the rear of the garden.
The overall aim was to create a garden that feels calm, sophisticated and cohesive by day, while becoming a warm and inviting space in the evening.
