The Brief

The client wanted to transform a tired and underused garden into a clean, contemporary outdoor space that would be easy to maintain while providing an attractive setting for relaxing and entertaining.

A key requirement was to create a lawn feature that would be visually striking when viewed from the house. The client wanted the garden to offer interest throughout the year, with a distinctive layout that could be appreciated from the rear doors and upper-floor windows, rather than a standard rectangular lawn.

The existing lawn and layout lacked structure and visual appeal. The brief was to completely clear the garden and create a fresh design featuring new lawn areas, defined planting beds and modern materials that would complement the property's contemporary style.

Design Approach

The garden was completely cleared and reconfigured to create a clean, contemporary layout. A flowing lawn was designed as the centrepiece of the garden, creating a unique feature that provides visual interest when viewed from the house while softening the long, narrow proportions of the space.

Steel edging was installed throughout to define the lawn and planting beds, while limestone clay paver patios provide practical seating areas. Planting beds were prepared with fresh topsoil to support future planting, and a charcoal composite decking area was introduced to create a stylish, low-maintenance entertaining space. Two bespoke Corton steel planters complete the design, adding warmth, texture and architectural interest.

The result is a modern garden that combines clean lines, functional outdoor living and a distinctive design that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
